Keeping It Simple This Halloween!

Halloween 2025 came and went in a blur this year! Between school events, work, and everything else, we didn’t have much time for Halloween activities or decorating — but of course, we still made sure to keep our little tradition of trick-or-treating alive.

This year, my 4-year-old got to wear two fun costumes! She dressed up as a sparkly mermaid for her school Halloween party, then switched it up with a Rumi look for Halloween night. It was simple but magical — exactly the kind of joy I love seeing at this age. The Rumi costume was such a last-minute decision; I honestly thought she’d stick with being a mermaid!

Mermaid Costume with Accessories

I bought this in May and planned for her to wear it on her birthday, but it was too big, so it ended up staying in her closet. She finally wore it for the first time at her preschool Halloween party :)

Huntrix Rumi Costume

It was hard to find a Rumi outfit that fit her! The one I originally bought is already sold out, and I ended up ordering from three different sellers to see which one would work best. This is the only one that’s still available.

Some Halloween photos — trick-or-treating at the mall and in the neighborhood. Lots of chocolates and candies :)

Fun Activities

Halloween Bucket Decorating

She actually made this at her school! We gave the kids meadow gold buckets and let them decorate their own.

Halloween Painting

We grabbed this Halloween Craft Cat Canvas Painting Kit from Target — it ended up being the only activity we did! Still, better than nothing, right? :)

We didn’t go all out with parties or anything extra this time, but honestly, walking around the neighborhood, seeing her excitement with every “Trick or treat!”, and ending the night with a bucket full of candy was more than enough. We even got to see some of her friends!

Even though Halloween is over, these costumes can still come in handy for birthday parties, dress-up days, or just a little imaginative play at home. Who says the fun has to end after October 31st?
